growing by leaps and bounds

20 08 2008

LaunchPad today was AWESOME!! We have been expecting growth in our class, but clearly not as much as we should be. Today we had more than 75 students in our class, and about 35 new students! They all seemed to really get into the lesson and the newly implemented small group discussions. Next week, we are expecting the class to grow by another huge leap, as many students said they would bring their friends!

….Expect BIG things from God. Bigger than what you can imagine. There are no limits. That’s what I’m learning.

Despite the large size of our class, I am being intentional about getting to know some of the students. Please pray for the entire class. It meets at a school called Mmakwane. But, if you would like to pray for individual students, here are some of the ones that I am getting to know…

Jeanette (a faithful, sweet, elderly woman that is BURSTING with smiles). This is a picture of me and Jeanette…

Lefu (a younger student who is one of the small group leaders…he is doing a GREAT job!) Here is me and Lefu…

Hans Tumelo (also a young small group leader)

Alina (a shy, sweet elderly lady)

Nimrod Thato (yes…that is his name. He is SO interested and willing to answer questions!)

So please keep them all, and us as we teach, in your prayers.

I can’t WAIT to see all God does this term, and I’ll keep you updated!

biggest adventure

19 08 2008

My biggest adventure would have to be this year. This is the longest I have ever been away from home, and I have experienced God moving powerfully in my life in the last several months.

To anyone reading this…

What is your biggest adventure?

a bit of a slump

19 08 2008

I’m sorry about the lack of posts lately. As you have probably noticed, for the past 3 or 4 weeks, I have been in a slump…a blogging slump, a journaling slump, a reading slump…

But I’m jumping back in.

A lot has been going on around here. It would be very long, and possibly boring, if I wrote an in-depth explanation of all that has happened in the past month. So, I am just going to give quick summaries and pictures (YAY!) Here goes…

We went on Safari! WOOO! It was amazing, and we saw all of the animals that you would expect: lions, giraffes, hippos, buffalo, rhinos, elephants, and much more.

We were able to go to Passion Conference in Johannesburg, featuring Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio. It was an awesome experience to worship with thousands of other believers in South Africa. We spent the weekend in the city, which was a HUGE blessing because we live on a farm, but I have always lived in a city. We went to the mall and movies there…two things that I have not done in 7 months!!

The interns put on assemblies in schools in Qwa Qwa ans Khalengyoni for one week to promote the beginning of Term 2 of LaunchPad. Hundreds of students came and were able to hear about the love and salvation of Jesus Christ! It was…..INCREDIBLE. I am so thankful that I was able to be a part of it.

LaunchPad began last week with a bang! The class I am teaching had 53 students, and we are only expecting it to grow. We are implementing a new format to the classes that includes small group discussions. The students seemed to love it!

Great things are planned for the weeks to come, and I can’t WAIT to see how God moves!

….And I promise to write about all that’s happening more often….
